Considering the ***hundreds of millions*** of USD that has gone in,
The ***monopoly of attention*** that LN gets,
10+ years of developer attention
The result is just pure junk, with minuscule 4,000 coins. Meanwhile wrapped ethereum has 100,000+
LN is doomed because it doesn't pay fees to miners -- it will either result in (1) vertical integration with miners, or (2) conflict with miners. In the case of (1), the htlcs and security model make no sense, and in the case of (2) the LN will be obliterated by 51% attack.
The smartest LN devs have already jumped ship to ARK.
LN is just a developer make-work project, it cannot scale Bitcoin to 8 billion users.
By all signs, it is a huge malinvestment and waste of time.

The Ark Protocol @ArkLabsHQ has recently been updated with new progress, which is one of the off-chain protocols I pay attention to, many people may not know this protocol, I will make a brief introduction:
1. Ark is a protocol that uses the off-chain model to scale BTC
2. In the development of the Lightning Network, there are "channel capacity problems" and "scalability problems", etc., which cannot be solved in a short time, and Ark is another set of solutions envisaged on this basis
3. Since it is an off-chain solution, there must be a "on-chain and off-chain" module
▪️ On-chain, it leverages the concepts of "pre-signing" and "shared UTXO" to enable the ability to lock up funds and exit unilaterally, which is partly similar to @buildonspark
▪️ Off-chain, it has designed a virtual UTXO (VTXO) concept to replicate the model of a traditional UTXO
▪️ In terms of off-chain scalability, it uses script primitives to achieve more functions and achieve its goal of positioning "making BTC programmable".
4. In order to improve this problem, they introduced TEE to execute the operator to reduce trust dependence (this kind of trust is not the same as the trust of multi-signature, the operator cannot control the user's funds)
5. In terms of asset expansion, in its latest paper, it theoretically supports TA and most of its assets, but it has not yet been implemented
6. Because it is an off-chain expansion method, Ark and the Lightning Network can be partially combined, which can also be perceived from the fact that its asset protocol supports TA
