Is Polkadot really dead? There has been a lot of discussion in the tech community in recent days. The founder of SOL, Toly, I don't know if he wants to "black" @Polkadot or if he learned from @vitalik, who supported SOL during its darkest moment in 2022. He retweeted a regrettable expression and praised @gavofyork for his contributions to blockchain infrastructure technology and the Rust standard library. The CEO of the Eigen Foundation, @rjdrost, also expressed recognition of the technical contributions. Polkadot is one of the few chains I see that is still under construction, along with some of the latest changes: - The wallet experience of @NovaWalletApp / @subwalletapp has surpassed that of Metamask, which has stagnated in recent years and is difficult to use. - Payment scenarios are expanding in the US/Europe/Southeast Asia, and Polkadot Pay is under review in the iOS and Android app stores. - The DOT ETF is still under review, with the review period extended to July 26. - Elastic scaling went live in early July, enhancing scalability. - The JAM white paper version 0.7 has been completed (this version basically has all the main core functions designed, and the next steps will be performance improvements and protocol refinements). More than 10 versions of the client are about to complete their first milestone. It is predicted that the JAM testnet or mainnet will go live by the end of the year (JAM is positioned as the world's computer). - Polkadot's PolkaVM (RISC-V VM has been tested on KSM) is compatible with EVM smart contracts and offers better performance. - Polkadot HUB is positioned similarly to Cosmos HUB, meaning that if multiple chains develop without a liquidity center like ETH, the ecosystem will struggle to grow. Therefore, both multi-chain projects have turned back to create a hub. This will also go live in Q3. - Polkadot's DeFi chain, Hydration, is currently running incentive activities, with the GIGA Hydration 2 million DOT incentive program now live! The current Hydration TVL is nearly 200 million dollars. So, is it really dead? 🤣 I'm just sharing what I've seen, not investment advice!
This is unfortunate. Gavin and team published a ton of high quality open source rust libraries over the years and because of the availability of these libraries I felt comfortable using rust for solana development.
