Every week payments were sent. Post more, earn more. Rank higher, earn higher. Quality mattered, and spammers were banned. Suddenly forum participation was not only conversation but income.
For many, this was the first experience of "get paid in BTC for online activity." It created grassroots evangelists who carried messages far and wide.
From this model grew many of the incentive schemes we see today, from token airdrops to content rewards. The idea that community labor equals ecosystem growth started here.
