There are a few things we need to clear up with the community. Our network launch last week was a huge success in our eyes, but there definitely was miscommunication and/or misinterpreted information floating around I wanted to address. Thread 🧵👇🏼
/ Is Gaia scamming you? No. We are all in this for the long term. Our team and treasury are locked for 18 months, followed by 24 months of vesting. Early backers (including investors) are on a 12-month lock, then 24-month vesting. We secured this with @HedgeyFinance smart contracts that are immutable proof that founders, team, advisors, and investors are all aligned to the long term success of the project.
/ Is the Gaia team selling their tokens right now? No. Then who is selling if the Gaia team and investors are locked-in? The addresses people mention are related to partner market makers and exchanges. Most sell-off is coming from exchange airdrops, around 70%, due to community airdrop campaigns run on their side. A portion of the initial supply was set aside to ensure there’s enough liquidity and healthy market activity from the get-go. None of this involves the team, treasury, or early backers—all those tokens are fully locked. We’re fine with this. We made a strategic call—partnering with top exchanges justifies some airdrop sell pressure. This is crypto; everybody sees this, and unfortunately, it’s how launching works in our current ecosystem. To the community: all these moves are for the long haul. Only with broad distribution can we realize the vision of open source, decentralized AI, actually owned and governed by the people. Easy access to Gaia is just the kick-off. Now comes the build.
/ Building an ecosystem actually takes time: Think of a network launch as phase 1. The real work starts now: building useful inference for agents and apps, making robust tools, and ensuring true utility is at the core. We don’t control price and won’t pretend otherwise—the only thing we can control is building something valuable for the community, developers and users. That's the focus right now. For example, aside from network launch... we have our Gaia AI phone, KBW conference sponsorship, running KBW official afterparty, deploying first ever @eigenlayer inference AVS, Gaia domain launchpad, MCP compatibility, Gaia Accelerator, Gaia Ecosystem Fund, and 50+ technical integrations with our protocol and network.. + so much more... We're heads down.. to say we're silent is not true. This is the loudest we have ever been. Do your homework please and ask how you can contribute.
/ Wen is airdrop bro?! Soon! We are taking care of our node and domain operators, along with the community that have participated or contributed to campaigns. Legally and ethically, we couldn’t share details ahead of time. If you reveal every detail up front, it defeats the purpose. What we can say: the airdrop is planned for this week. Once we’re close, we’ll announce everything—eligibility, claiming, how governance and delegation work, contract addresses, and guides for claiming and participating.
/Introducing our governance model and why it matters: We need governance to allocate rewards and shape the network according to community needs, not top-down control Rather than just another DAO, we’re making this more robust: - Delegates will be able to push proposals to our Forum, @snapshotlabs, and @tallyxyz - A Security Council will have veto rights and is directly aligned with the Foundation’s open-source engineering team - Domain and node rewards will flow in an automated, democratic, and transparent way—guided by community demand for inference, tooling, and agent support We’ll allocate 32% of the total token supply for network incentives, managed through governance. At first, governance starts more centralized for security and efficiency, then can become increasingly automated, and decentralized over time, as knowledgeable delegates, voters, and real contributors join in to guide our inference network to support high-demand and real world use-cases for the utility of Gaia. More details coming this week!
/We appreciate everyone who is and has been in our camp. We recognize some individuals chase short-term wins, but our priority is the long-term health and success of the community. We’ll always be as transparent as we can, but our main job is protecting and growing this project for the benefit of everyone involved. We do apologize if anybody feels like they were misled by our team in any way. Upward and onward!
