2/ The EF’s objectives extend far beyond optimising capital.
They aim to embed values throughout their financial decision-making, supporting projects pushing forward privacy, permissionless or other core principles.
3/ Clear investment policy is the foundation of effective treasury management.
To support the Ethereum Foundation, we shared examples of strong asset management methodologies, which structure capital allocation using a framework for clarity accountability and long-term discipline.
4/ Without a clear policy, treasury management often defaults to ad hoc decisions, unclear responsibilities, and fragmented execution.
An investment policy statement sets the standard, defining who is responsible for what, under which limitations, and with what expectations.
5/ The EF’s Treasury Policy prioritises security, composability and capital preservation.
Deployments will be focused on solo staking, lending via established protocols, and conservative stablecoin strategies — all subject to rigorous review of security, liquidity and governance mechanisms.
6/ To align capital deployment with Ethereum’s principles, we helped shape the policy into an actionable filter for DeFi engagement.
This became the Defipunk framework, a set of clear criteria rooted in Ethereum’s cypherpunk values, guiding how the EF will evaluate onchain opportunities.
